Taking bookings for November & December
Hi Im Danni, I am a certified Dreadlock Artist / Loctician, I created Judge Dreads 7 years ago after perfecting my technique, I have been making & maintaining dreads for over 10 years using the backcombing, palm rolling & crochet hook method.
Please note I only work from home and don't travel out to clients.
Using Backcombing, palm rolling and crochet hook method. No wax is used.
From root tidy ups, repairing weak dreads and separating matted dreads.
Made with human hair, usually added onto natural dreads.
I do make custom wool dreads and post them out or alternatively come for a visit for me to install them.
I make a variety of adjustable metal dreadlock accessories to decorate dreads, prices from £2 - £3
Please reach me via whats app or social media if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Its hard to tell as its dependent on your hair type, how long it is, if its full head or partial dreads & if extensions are being added and to what length.
A rough idea would be anything from 6 - 10 hours including breaks for partial dreads (half head/ undercut)
For a full head It would take me 2 days sometimes more, I start at the back, working upwards sectioning, backcombing and crocheting each dread.
If extensions are being added I will section the hair all over, dread row by row then add extensions.
PLEASE NOTE on big jobs I need 2 full days at least booked out, Usually starting at 10am.
I personally wash my dreads around once a week to once every 10 days, I use a shampoo and focus on the scalp, I don't use conditioner, rinse thoroughly, Then I palm roll them when they are towel dried and dry them with a hair dryer.
I would recommend to leave washing them for at least a week after install so the dreads have time to settle, when washing your hair focus mainly on the scalp and make sure any products are washed out thoroughly, towel dry, and then palm roll each dread from root to tip, I personally use a hair dryer on mine from a safe distance to dry further as I want to prevent dampness in the dreads.
doing this process each time of washing helps prevent the dreads from matting up together, keeping sections clear.
Everyone's pain tolerance is different, some areas are more sensitive then others, I have recommended in the past for clients to take a mild painkiller if they are sensitive to pain.
Its a crochet hook being used to pull hair into the dread so it feels like snagging/pinching.
Wash hair a day or two before visit with just shampoo & no conditioner, make sure hair is bone dry before visit.
If sensitive to pain Id recommend taking a mild painkiller like paracetamol.
Bring snacks & drinks as the sessions can be long.
I make these dreads with felting wool which is easier on the scalp then synthetic dreads, I section the hair then braid the hair around the dreads, attaching with elastic bands.
It is normal for the elastic bands to snap over time, if any do snap within the first 7 days from install I do re braid & attach for free, after this time I do charge for any that snap that will take me more than half an our to attach.
Everyones hair grows at different rates, some people want thier fake dreads reinstalled every 4 weeks, some leave it longer, its all personal preferance.
Section, backcomb, crochet hook and palm roll. NO WAX used.
Half head of dreads (bottom half or top half with shaved undercut) dependent on where the parting is for partial dreads.
Full head of dreads or fringe/sides left out. Price varies depending on the length and condition of hair.
All depends on length, colour, how many dreads and thickness wanted.
Quality wool crocheted, usually a blend of colours to give a more natural look.
Good amount for some random ones tied in, poking through normal hair or alternatively attached to a hairband.
Half head of dreads.
Full head of dreads.
Full head of dreads, more sections for a fuller look.
Sectioning hair and installing dreads using either blanket braid or normal braid using elastics to secure in place.
Anything from root tidy-ups, weak dreads, Dreads needing to be re-attached, separating dreads that have been neglected.
